A manufacturing company (Automotive / Metal) based Durban is looking for an experienced and skilled individual to join their maintenance department in the capacity of a Mechatronic Technician. The requirements for this role are as follows:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
• Grade 12
• Completion of National Diploma in Electronic/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering.
• Preference for a BTech/BSC Degree in Electronic/Electrical/Mechatronic Engineering, or progress towards
• Minimum two years relevant experience in a Technical role in a Maintenance department in the steel or automotive industries.


PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
• To support Maintenance targets and through technical competence, and a strong drive for results
• Daily technical support to artisans with various problems with Electrical, Mechanical and Die equipment.
• Implement countermeasures for breakdowns and technical issues.
• Supervision of the computerized maintenance management system.
• Manage Technical/Maintenance projects from conception to close out.
• Ensure that all maintenance tasks carried out by artisans are done to industry standards and best practices.
• Monitoring, tracking, measuring and communicating key performance metrics for the maintenance department.
• Technical supervision of planned work.
• To ensure good housekeeping principles and safe working environment.


DELIVERABLES/KPAs (but not limited to ...)
• Daily artisan support; feedback; and solutions to high level Electrical, Mechanical, and Die equipment problems.
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement proactive countermeasures.
• Managing various projects, improvements, kaizens, and upgrades.
• Supervision of contractor work as and when required.
• Workshop skills (hand tools, welding, grinding, and fabrication).
• Ability to troubleshoot sophisticated automatic machinery (PLC’s, Drives, Servo’s, etc).
• Ad hoc admin tasks as and when required.
• Creating progress/feedback, performance reports.


COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
• Maintenance exposure in a complex production/manufacturing environment
• 1 year supervisory work
• Advanced computer literacy, specifically in MS Office (excel, word, outlook).
• Documentation and data entry Skills.
• Self-starter and drive for performance
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Verbal Communication.
• Reporting Skills.
• Show competency on use of PLC programming at intermediate or advanced level (Toyopuc and Mitsubishi)
